Floodplain Management
In response to the Nebraska State Legislature assigning floodplain management responsibilities to the local government level, the Phelps County Board of Commissioners adopted the National Flood Insurance Program. This program is designed to protect public health, safety and general welfare through programs that work to assist landowners in flood prone areas.
Floodplain maps are available for viewing in the office of the Floodplain Manager at the Courthouse.
No development or substantial improvements to land in a floodplain can be completed without first obtaining a permit and a review performed by the Floodplain Management officials for the county.
